Bake Off: The Professionals returns to Channel 4 tonight, however beloved co-presenter Tom Allen won’t be back in the tent.
Instead, Liam Charles will be joined by a new host as the search for Britain’s best patisserie team begins again for its fifth series.
This time around, patisserie teams from establishments in Manchester, Cumbria, Wiltshire, Birmingham, and London compete to be crowned the champion.
Kicking things off, judges Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden tasked the pastry chefs to create 36 individual strawberry cakes and a chocolate sculpture, with no recipe to work from.
They are then challenged to transform an ordinary treacle tart into a fine dining experience.

Tom Allen announced his departure from Bake Off: The Professionals in February, explaining that it was ‘time to move on’.
‘I’ve had the best time co-hosting The Professionals down in Sussex with my wonderful friend Lam but now is the time to move on,’ he said in a post shared on Instagram.

Who is replacing Tom Allen on Bake Off: The Professionals?
Stacey Solomon has replaced Tom Allen as the co-host of Bake Off The Professionals.
The Loose Woman presenter, 32, said she gets to ‘eat cake all day’ while fronting the seventh series alongside former Great British Bake Off contestant and fan favourite Liam Charles.
‘I can finally say the reason I have been going off and filming every few weeks is because I am going to be presenting Bake Off The Professionals this year,’ Stacey said of her signing in an Instagram post.
‘Everyone is so lovely and I basically just count them in and say ready steady go and then eat cake all day, its such a cool job, I love it so much and am just so excited for it.’

Lucas announced his departure from the baking show in December 2022 after three years on the program, citing his busy schedule as his reason for leaving.
Although the broadcaster did not address Stacey's departure from the programme, the celebrity host confirmed later that she had to go on maternity leave. She said: “So excited to watch this! @EllieJaneTaylor @BritishBakeOff it's going to be amazing!

It appears, however, that leftovers are but a myth in the Bake Off tent, with Ali admitting: "The cakes are meant to be taken to a lunch area where everyone can share them, but they don't usually get that far because the crew eat them first."
Matt Lucas has said "farewell" to the Great British Bake Off tent, as the comedian confirmed he was stepping down as a presenter of the show. The 48-year-old said his three-series stint had been a "delicious experience" but the time needed to oversee bakes alongside other projects was too much.

On 10 January 2020, Lucas himself was forced to withdraw from the show following a back injury. In March 2020, he became the new co-host of the Channel 4 and Love Productions television show The Great British Bake Off, taking over from Sandi Toksvig. He departed from the programme in December 2022.
It's Chocolate Week and unfortunately Jeffery, Venus and sometimes Flora have had to pull out of the competition due to illness but seeing as the show does have a tradition of allowing teams to compete again in later series, hopefully they might be able to come back next year!
