The Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration is composed of eighteen (18) offices with a total staff of approximately 420 employees. The agency's primary responsibility is the administration and oversight of the State's financial and administrative operations. This includes supervision over purchasing, accounting, budgeting, travel, employee payroll, vendor payments, State health insurance, building construction and maintenance, surplus property, State Capitol police and security of State buildings, the State's fleet of vehicles and aircraft, and other related areas.

(b)How to File a Request

Any person wishing to request access to public records of the DFA, or seeking assistance in making such a request should contact the DFA Director of Communications. All requests to examine, copy, or obtain public records from the DFA must be in writing** and delivered to the DFA via mail, email or in person. The request should provide as much detail as possible about the records being requested, include the preferred format (paper copy, flash drive, electronic or inspection) and must include the name, address, and contact information of the requester including email address and phone number. The Director of Communications will oversee compliance with the Act but another DFA staff member may process the request. Therefore, these rules will refer to the Director of Communications "or designee." The Director of Communications or designee and the DFA will provide the "fullest assistance" to requester; ensure that public records are protected from damage or disorganization; and prevent fulfilling public records requests from causing excessive interference with essential functions of the DFA.
