I made this with lime instead of lemon, no optional ginger and ginger beer and it was delish. The fizziness, the salt and the ginger go a long way to making it much closer to a real co*cktail than most recipes, which end up tasting like jazzy juice.

Mary

As a lemon and water aficionado, this sounds like a nice compromise for those of us that wish to abstain from alcohol!

I made this with Fever-Tree Ginger Beer (a guy at the grocery store next to me recommended it as well worth the price). It was delicious, but next time I’ll use less fresh ginger. With the higher quality ginger beer, 1tsp was a bit too much and made my lip burn a bit.

Made with Fevertree ginger beer, grated ginger, and juice of 1/2 a lemon. Muddled the lemon and salt with the ginger because I cannot follow directions. Very refreshing. Loved the kick from the extra ginger. Would also be good with seltzer, adding ginger and simple syrup to taste. Make it a generous pinch of salt - I skimped and it could have used a tad more.

Melissa

Pretty good, but lots of effort. Next time, I'm going to try using those frozen ginger cubes from Trader Joe's

This was one of the first mocktails I've tried didn't have a bad case of the "mehs". Cut the ginger beer with a bit of club soda and muddled in some fresh jalapeño. Will make again!

Amazing! Getting me through dry January with style! I use gingerade kombucha and extra ginger. Love the salty touch.

Haley

As a pregnant woman who has been craving a nice, savory co*cktail for 7 months, this hit the spot! Made with ginger kombucha and some razor thin slices of ginger tossed with the chopped lemon at the start. Yum!

Janet

made this with lime instead of lemon, no optional ginger and ginger beer and it was delish.

Brooke

I thought this was outstanding. Made it with the optional ginger and topped with ginger kombucha. Delicious

Jamie

This is a very refreshing summer (or anytime) drink that doubles as a great mocktail for those looking to limit or abstain from alcohol. I was skeptical of the salt at first but it's worth a try I promise!

Jen

Would preserved lemon be too salty in this?

Kris

THIS is my new summer co*cktail! I use up to a tablespoon of ginger for a real kick. I absolutely love it with (or without) a shot of gin or vodka. It's easy, refreshing and includes stuff I nearly always have on hand. It's so good I had to share the recipe with several friends!

Nicole

Can I use the preserved lemons in my refrigerator?

Su

I routinely make a version of this (with a splash of dry vermouth and some sparkling water, instead of the ginger beer) using either preserved lemons or preserved limes. Delicious, and no need to add additional salt in that case.

Going to try this. As a ginger fan who avoids sugar when I can, I found a stevia-sweetened ginger syrup that works pretty well in a similar co*cktail fave of mine. It's by NuNaturals and called NuStevia Ginger Syrup. The label says 1/4 tsp is a serving but I usually mix a little more to taste with Soda Stream plain sparkling water, lemon or lime and maybe a little kombucha. Goes down smooth and healthy. NuNatural also makes a chocolate syru which I occasionally use in coffee or whatever.

Katie

Excited to give this a try! If I were to turn it into a co*cktail, what alcohol would work best?

Heather

Probably vodka (Moscow mule) or dark rum (dark and stormy). Ginger beer is a really versatile mixer.

This was so good I made a second one. Used the ginger, which along with the salt make this refreshing and interesting. I used diet ginger ale (I know, I know) because I wanted to avoid the sugar. Topped it off with seltzer to cut the sweetness. Wonderful!

Cindy

Fevertree makes a delicious light ginger beer- works even better for mocktails than diet gingerale.

David

Grating the ginger and pressing out the juice with a garlic press gave the desired extra ginger kick without the gritty little bits of ginger floating in the drink. Use a quality ginger beer, this is no place to cut corners. Very refreshing!
