Prison Architect: Second Chances gives your inmates a fresh start with reform and rehabilitation features, helping them improve behaviors and reduce sentences.

Parole Hearings

All prisoners are granted a parole hearing when they reach 50% of their sentence, and another one at 75%. To facilitate this you must build a Parole Room, and start the Parole Hearing Program.

Instead of the game simply ending, the player is still allowed to view their prison in its final moments. This is similar to how Dungeon Keeper operated when the player met with failure; they would become a ghost and could watch their dungeon crumble.

A year in prison architect is 5 days. What would make this game much more fun and realistic as well as provide a new challenge is having the ability to change how long a year is in the game. This way we can get to know our prisoners more and build connections of how a real prison would feel like.

A Dormitory can house any number of prisoners, based on the number of beds installed. Dormitories can be small, e.g. 2x3, replacing the normal Cell, allowing for two or more inmates to share a cell together.

The Psych Ward DLC allows players to open their lockups to a new class of inmates: the Criminally Insane. Handle their needs and behaviours without pushing the population to breaking point. Neglecting your Prisoners' needs and punishing them too frequently risks permanently damaging their health.

The slowing down of the game is due to the fact that so many entities (prisoners, staff, visitors and so on) have to calculate a viable path every time they want to go somewhere and there's no way of calculatng that any faster than the game already does (using the A* algorithm if you want to get technical :P).

Developers Double Eleven have released the final update for Prison Architect, appropriately enough called the Sunset update, which doesn't so much tease a 3D sequel as show off a bit of it.

The state approved execution level is 5% by default which means that if the chance of clemency is below 5% the player will not get fined if the prisoner is found innocent after the execution. The chance of clemency is halved every time the prisoner fails the death row appeals program and is increased if he passes.

Really fun game, slight nudity, unrealistic (cartoon) violence, and there's drug references. (Drugs not encouraged, quite the opposite)

Should I play the Prison Architect campaign or not? ›

It is recommended to play the campaign before approaching the sandbox game mode, as the campaign also serves as a tutorial to the complex gameplay of Prison Architect.

Free time allows prisoners to spend their time as they choose. Because cooks will not cook unless "Eat" time is scheduled, prisoners cannot eat in the canteen during Free Time. When scheduled directly after Eat time prisoners will finish their food if already eating.

All depends on your room sizes, number of drains, prisoners, distance in between them. You can probably go at a rate of 1 janitor per 15 prisoners approximately. A bit of experimenting is necessary, requirements aren't always the same. Prisoners on cleaning duty not included.
