A 33-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly running a salt factory and packing it in counterfeit packages of a famous brand, in Barwala, in the far north of Delhi. DCP (Outer North) Rajiv Ranjan Singh said the accused has been identified as Mahesh, alias Tony, a resident of Barwala.

Police said a complaint had been received from the brand’s representative that a duplicate salt manufacturing unit was operating in the Shahbad Dairy area. “When a police team raided the factory, a huge amount of salt and duplicate packaging and other items were recovered,” Singh said.
During questioning, Mahesh is said to have revealed that he visited a goods dealer where he came into contact with a “Master Ji” who was in the packaged food business and instigated the accused to start. his own double salt business.
“A year ago, Mahesh started his salt duplicate factory in the rented premises located at Jain Colony in Barwala. The accused was packing very inferior and inexpensive salt in a 1kg duplicate branded package, ”the DCP said.
Police said Mahesh was purchasing the brand’s duplicate packaging material from its source in Naya Bazar at a price of 2 per 1kg packet. “The accused further revealed that he only packaged the particular brand because everyone believes it and it is the best-selling item,” the officer said.
