Tegna’s Washington, D.C. CBS affiliate, WUSA, has been promoted to deputy news director Caridad Hernandez to the director of news content.
Hernandez has served as the deputy news director for two years and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the news department.
“We are thrilled to promote Cari to this new role leading our entire newsroom,” said Vice President and Station Manager WUSA. She has already had a huge impact during her three years at WUSA9 and we are very lucky to have her on our team.
“I am thrilled and honored to continue leading the WUSA9 team in this new role,” said Hernandez. I look forward to continuing to work with an excellent group of journalists, who bring out the best in everyone and work diligently to tell stories that have an impact in the DC Metro area and beyond.
She currently serves on the board of Urgent Inc. and volunteers with the Asian American Journalist Association, where she co-facilitates the Executive Leadership Program for Emerging Media Leaders. Previously, she also served as a broadcast teacher for high school journalism students and as a mentor/instructor for the Poynter Institute.
